Hydrophobic transport in Gram negative bacteria

Research

My research is focused on studying how Gram negative bacteria transport hydrophobic substrates across their outer membrane outer membrane. I use coarse-grained and atomistic molecular dynamics simulations to do so. I am also interested in studying permeation of molecules across bilayers and how the outer membrane of Gram negative bacteria add to the barrier

Background

I graduated with Honours as a B.Tech in 2006 followed by a M.Tech in Medical Biotechnology in 2008. I tried many fields from Genomics and Proteonomics to Systems Biology to Medical Instrumentation before ariving at Compuational Biology during my research project with Dr Sanjib Senapati at IIT Madras. I joined the Sansom group as a D.Phil student in 2009 after completing an year of work in consultancy.
