Dr Richard Law

Dr Lucy Forrest
completed her thesis on modelling and simulation studies of proton channels and transporters in 2000. She is currently working at Columbia University, New York, in Prof. Barry Honig's lab.

Dr Peter Tieleman
has moved along with several cacti to the Biochemistry Department at the University of Calgary. He is offering some vacancies to join him.

Dr Wolfgang Fisher
has made the long journey across to the biochemistry tower where he now has his own research group in collaboration with Tony Watts.

Dr Graham Smith
finished his post-doc with the group in June 2000, to take up exciting docking work at the Cancer Research UK with Mike Sternberg.

Dr Kishani Ranatunga
completed her thesis in 1999, on the subject of water and ion interactions within models of potassium channels and glycoporins, using mainly continuum electrostatics, molecular dynamics and homology modelling techniques. Her new home is Imperial College, where she is doing a post-doc on ion-channel electrophysiology.

Dr Paolo la Rocca
completed his thesis in 1998 on methods of simulating peptide-bilayer interactions using both continuum and molecular dynamics methods.

Dr Charlotte Adcock
completed her thesis in 1998 on electrostatics calculations on nicotinic acetylcholine receptor models, and went to become a computer programmer

Dr Ian Kerr
left the lab after an illustrious 7 year career in the Sansom group. Ian's primary interest was in the generation of models for the voltage-gated potassium channel. He then decided to return to his biochemical roots and do some wet work on the ABC transporters at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital, before finally obtaining his own laboratory at the university of Nottingham

Dr R Sankararamakrishnan
A former post-doc, Sankar modelled nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. After a year working in the groups of Prof. Eric Jakobsson and Prof. Shankar Subramaniam at the Beckman Institute, University of Illinois, Sankar moved to take up a permanent position at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Sankar is in the Physiology and Biophysics Department.

Dr Jason Breed
did his D. Phil. thesis entitled "Molecular modelling of ion channels" in the lab. He managed to hand in his thesis, emigrate to Germany and get married inside a week and has now taken up an EMBO fellowship in the lab of Dr. Wolfram Welte at
Konstanz, Germany.

Dr Hyeon Song
gained his thesis entitled "Prediction of Membrane Protein Structure". Hyeon has also contributed to the brian drain by going to do a post-doc in Germany at the MPI for Polymer Chemistry in Mainz. Hyeon has joined the Theory Group at the MPI.
